Building Committee
As you probably know by now, we have purchased approximately 24
acres of land in North central Bartlett. The land is located
on the South side of Old Brownsville approximately 3/10 of a mile
West of Ellendale Rd. or 7/10 of a mile East of Billy Maher Rd. It
is vacant and moderately wooded. It’s a rectangular-shaped
parcel measuring 23.96 acres. We plan to build on the 12
acres fronting Old Brownsville and to sell the 12 acres at the
rear of the property. Selling the rear 12 acres should not
be a problem, as there is a new neighborhood being developed adjacent
to the East side of the land and one of the new streets just dead
ends into the land at the rear of the property. (The developer
plans on continuing the neighborhood and in the past has actually
made offers to buy “our land” from the current owner.)
We had a very busy Summer with lots of activity
around the new building! We were given final approval by
the Board of Mayor and Aldermen for our Special Use Permit. (The
Special Use Permit is the formal approval allowing us to build
a church on land which is zoned residential.) The Design
Review Committee approved our building design (floor plan, landscaping,
colors, building materials, lighting, etc.) with only a few minor
conditions. Overall,
they were very complimentary of the entire project. Finally,
the Board of Zoning Appeals granted our variance on the height
of the roof. (The maximum height allowed by city ordinance
is 35 feet. We were granted a 7 foot variance, allowing us
to have a roof height of 42 feet.) A special thanks to all
of you that came out and/or spoke in support of the variance. The
next step on the new building will be construction documents (blue
prints for structural, plumbing, electrical, etc.) and permitting.
