St. Elisabeth's Episcopal Church seeks to serve as Christ in word and action.

As we take greater ownership of our faith, we realize how enormously blessed we are as individuals and as a community. The natural response of God's generosity is to serve and care for others in our church, in our city, and in the world. Christ calls us to care for all people, loving neighbor as ourselves.

St. Elisabeth's strives to see Christ in everyone. Therefore, the ministries of the parish are broad and varied. The items listed are just a portion of the work each of us is called to do in God's kingdom.

Barth-Sanders Guild - This guild's focus is to strengthen the parish community, share devotion and prayer while providing a fellowship opportunity for its members. This is done by sponsoring fundraising activities for the benefit of outreach and needs inside the parish. Meetings are held monthly at the church on the first Tuesday of each month. After the business meeting, members go to lunch at a local restaurant of choice. Our present outreach facility is the Church Health Center.

Bible & Biscuit - A group of parishioners who meet weekly on Thursdays at 11:00 am. Sausage and biscuits are provided. They read and discuss the bible scripture for that day. Holy Eucharist is celebrated every 2nd & 4th Thursday of the month.

Breaking Bread Dinner Group - Small groups that meet one evening a month at a member's home for a simple meal, Christian fellowship, and discussion.

Centering Prayer Group - Centering prayer is a prayer of stillness and inner quiet. It is a prayer where we simply just BE in God's presence. Each Wednesday evening immediately following the 6:30 pm Holy Eucharist and Healing Service, we have a 20-minute session of Centering Prayer followed with discussion.

Daughters of the King - This group of women of varied ages meet on a monthly basis for study and prayer. They are a Diocesan-wide organization and their purpose is intercessory prayer, evangelism, and clergy support. They also visit the sick and help provide meals for the sick and bereaved.

LifeBlood Plan - Volunteers are needed to donate blood on a regular basis. St. Elisabeth's has an active LifeBlood Plan. Contact the office for more details.

Outreach Committee - An opportunity for parishioners to help others in our community. The committee is responsible for organizing volunteers to feed the homeless, supply funds and volunteers to Habitat for Humanity, and many other local charities. The committee recommends and approves the distribution of the Parish's designated outreach funds budgeted each year by the vestry.

Prayer Chain - This group is comprised of Church members dedicated to intercessory prayer. A group leader keeps the chain going by passing prayer requests from member to member. All are welcome to join in this very rewarding way to serve others. The prayer chain can be initiated by anyone by calling the parish office, 372-2753.

Pastoral Care Committee - The purpose of this committee is to establish a communication link between the larger community at St. Elisabeth's and the individual members. They provide a means of incorporating newcomers into the church, implement a lay pastoral ministry, and share information about pastoral needs to the priest or appropriate lay ministry groups.

St. Mary's Guild - Comprised of dedicated, hard-working women both married and single, ages mid-twenties and up who meet monthly in the evening in members' homes. They are service oriented and do projects both inside and outside the Parish. Their purpose is to promote fellowship and provide outreach for the benefit of women and children. Their fundraising projects include a Mardi Gras and summer c ontinental breakfast. They also emphasize spiritual enrichment through ongoing religious study at their meetings.
